Sandy was raised in Connecticut where she began her career, training at her hometown school, Yale University. At one point she replaced Howard Stern after they fired him from the station where he worked at the time. She became the first woman to grace the airwaves of several Classic Rock radio stations. Sandy assisted in starting a new Classic Rock station in Detroit, MI (WCSX) and from there moved on to Los Angeles, where, again, happily helped in the startup of another great station, Star 98.7, working with a young Ryan Seacrest long before he became the mega star that he is today.
For more than a decade she was part of the Morning Show on 94.7, KTWV, The Wave, contributing news and a bit of levity each morning with musician Dave Koz & Pat Prescott.
Sandy’s Voiceover work has included being the National Voice for luxury beds, Duxiana & Kelly Temporary Services. Her other clients have included Toyota, Cadillac, Domino’s & WW.
She was a narrator on the documentary film ‘Rain Falls From Earth’ along with Oscar nominated actor Sam Waterston.
She’s also voiced numerous promos for TV and Radio stations including legendary KDKA, Pittsburgh, PA, Key 103, Austin, Tx, the BBC & KTWV, The Wave, Los Angeles, CA.
According to Sandy, ‘Music has always been central in my life. I began playing guitar and singing in coffee houses while going to college at Yale. But college had different ideas about where I was headed and they put a microphone in front of me and introduced me to radio. And the rest, as they say, is history.” But she added, “And now, the curtain rises on MellowRock.com”.
After fleeing Los Angeles traffic, Sandy & her Golden Retrievers now enjoy the beach & great weather in Santa Barbara.
